The US News 2008 ranking of the best graduate engineering schools presented few surprises this year. MIT remains the top engineering school in the nation. The 198 schools were ranked by using surveys, statistics, and peer grading. They calculate the overall score of each college by adding up grades for quality assessment, peer assessment, recruiter assessment, student selectivity, mean GRE quantitative scores, acceptance rate, faculty resources, student to faculty ratio, percent of faculty who are members of the National Academy of Engineering, doctoral degrees awarded, total research expenditures, research activity, and average research expenditures per faculty member.
