Sir Paul McCartney received an honorary Doctor of Music degree from Yale University. Richard Levin, Yale University President, gave speech peppered with the songwriter’s most memorable lines.
The British-themed weekend at Yale included a Class Day address from British Prime Minister Tony Blair, who was in attendance for McCartney’s Commencement ceremony. In his address, Blair said, adding: “Sir Paul McCartney reminded me that the first record company the Beatles approached rejected them as a band no one would want to listen to.”
Will you still need me, will you still feed me, when I’m sixty-four? The 65-year old McCartney is still a favorite subject for the British media, and the Beatles remain the most successful band of all time. I am still waiting for Ringo to receive a Doctorate.
Here is a list of my top ten favorite Beatles songs for the neophytes out there:
1)Hey Jude
2) Day in the Life
3)Yesterday
4)Let It Be
5)Helter Skelter
7)In My Life
8-Strawberry Fields Forever
9)Get Back
10)Don’t Let me Down
